Why is Dancing with the Stars a day behind in Canada?
It isn't, on Citytv's regular schedule: each episode airs the same Tuesday as ABC. The idea comes from premiere week, when Channel Canada's calendar listed Citytv for Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. ET. That was the second night of ABC's two-night opener; Playback reported that the season premiered on Citytv and Disney+ in Canada on Sept. 15.
Where the show does run behind is the West. The live broadcast starts at 5 p.m. Pacific, and Citytv Vancouver airs it at 8 p.m. PT, Citytv Calgary at 9 p.m. MT.
Does simultaneous substitution affect Dancing with the Stars?
Yes. Simultaneous substitution lets a Canadian station replace the American signal with its own when both air the same show at the same minute.
