Saturdays are usually thin, and this one is too, with one exception. SNL's 52nd season starts tonight, and it's the first season Canadians get on CTV and Crave instead of Global.
The gist:
- SNL Season 52 opens tonight with host Jalen Brunson and musical guest KATSEYE, live on CTV and streaming live on Crave.
- Prime Video Canada adds the horror film Backrooms; Disney+ Canada posts the whole Chilean Mine Rescue docuseries.

What time is SNL on in Canada tonight?
CTV has it at 11:30 p.m. ET, simulcast with NBC. Channel Canada's two-week grid prints the start as 11:29 p.m. on CTV and NBC, so there's no harm in tuning in a minute early.
Crave streams the same broadcast live. Bell Media's September Crave overview then lists Season 52, Episode 1 as an on-demand title on Sunday, Sept. 27. Who is hosting the SNL premiere?
Jalen Brunson, the Knicks guard who was Finals MVP when New York won its first NBA title in 53 years. KATSEYE make their SNL debut as musical guest. NBC's own announcement and DraftKings Network's preview name the same pair.
Two more October dates are set on NBC's list: Dakota Johnson with Turnstile on Oct. 3, then Shane Gillis with Rosalía on Oct. 10. Both are third-time hosts.
Why is SNL on CTV now and not Global?

Prime Video Canada adds three titles: Kane Parsons's horror film Backrooms, plus Pressure and Sin Señal. iPhone in Canada and Exclaim! both date all three for today. MobileSyrup's Prime list doesn't carry them, so treat the exact time of day as not confirmed.
On Disney+ Canada, National Geographic's Chilean Mine Rescue: Race Against Time arrives with every episode at once. It revisits the 69 days in 2010 when 33 miners were trapped under the Atacama. MobileSyrup and Keith Loves Movies' Canadian list both have it today, alongside new episodes of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Daemons of the Shadow Realm and Mao.
Is anything new on CBC Gem or Paramount+ today?
